We read the story of "The Mitten", made our own mittens, and put all of the characters from the story inside in sequential order!

We brought the snow indoors!!! Students got to play in the snow with various measuring tools and kitchen utensils!
The preschool watched the "I Have a Dream" speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Throughout the week we read various books about Dr. King's life including how he went to college at the young age of 15 and that his birth name was really Michael, but he and his father traveled to Germany and met and admired a Protestant leader named Martin Luther. They both changed their names when he was just 5 years old. Happy Birthday to Dr. King, and thank you for being such a peaceful and righteous man!

Our first Show and  Tell of the year!! Students got to bring in various toys, stuffed animals, trophies, and food!! After the preschoolers sat and listened to their friend's show and tell, they then got a chance to ask questions or comment on it.  This taught them to be a good listening audience, be respectful when someone is speaking, and learn to present in front of peers!
Pre-K 4 classroom Christmas Party!!!  Lots of fun with Christmas crafts, games, and stories.

We had a visit from Prairie State College nursing students today! They came in to teach us about what is safe to eat and what isn't safe to eat. We also watched a poison prevention video on what to stay away from: such as our medicine cabinets, under our kitchen sinks, and containers in the garage. Thanks for visiting us, we learned so much!!

We observed the inside of a pumpkin!! Students got to see and feel the inside with it's seeds and flesh. While observing, the student's measured how tall the pumpkin was with unifix cubes, and how round the pumpkin was with links. Our results showed the pumpkin is 13 cubes tall, and 22 links around. We saved our seeds and are going to have baked pumpkin seeds with our snack! Yummy!!
